 BUILDING MIND, SPIRIT & BODY

Vinal Tech’s Criminal Justice and Protective Services students don’t just work hard in the classroom; they also work hard to prepare physically for careers in law enforcement and public safety!  Our students are training for the Connecticut CHIP Physical Ability Assessment, which challenges future police officers in four areas:

      One-minute sit-up test
      300-meter sprint
      One-minute push-up test
      1.5-mile endurance run

For candidates under 30, the benchmarks include:

 Male: 38 sit-ups, 29 push-ups, a 59-second 300-meter sprint and a 12:38 1.5-mile run.

 Female: 32 sit-ups, 15 push-ups, a 71-second 300-meter sprint and a 14:50 1.5-mile run.

What made today’s training even more special? Our building principal, Dr. Nelson Rivera didn’t simply stand on the sidelines; he stepped up and participated right alongside our students!  At Vinal Tech CJPS, we are preparing the next generation of public-safety professionals by building the mind, strengthening the spirit and training the body!
