ACE Mentor Program Visits Vinal Tech

Two representatives of the ACE Mentor Program visited Vinal Tech to speak with students in MDET, Carpentry, Electrical, and HVAC about career opportunities in the fields of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE).  ACE consists of representatives from area industries who volunteer their time and expertise to introduce and demonstrate their trades during evening programs. Juniors from the Construction Trades joined juniors and seniors of Mechanical Design & Engineering Technology in the MDET shop to listen to Alison Fredericks and John Scheib, both from Northeast Collaborative Architects in Middletown, speak about ACE and answer student questions. Interested students provided their names and school e-mail addresses or may sign up on-line at www.acementor.org. ACE participants learn of available scholarships and related fields such as MEP Systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and CM (Construction Management), complete design projects, and visit construction sites. ACE workshops, which run from October through May, include presentations from:

  • Architects
  • Interior Designers
  • Landscape Architects
  • Mechanical Engineers
  • Structural Engineers
  • Electrical Engineers
  • Environmental Engineers
  • Civil Engineers
  • Construction Managers
  • College & University Representatives
