IST 10th grader makes an app

November 4, 2018

10th grade Information Systems Technology student Lucas Johnson saw a need and made an app to solve the problem.  His idea was to secure and make a better way off signing out of the classroom.  Using the program Python he coded a program to make a sign out program.  He assigned his classmates a QR code and printed them out. They then attached it to the back of their student ID.  Now when they leave the class they sign out on the tablet by scanning their ID, and when they return they scan back in.  The app records their name and the time.  Lucas said his “is a program that will replace the physical sign out sheet. It is an easy to use program that can run on any Windows 10 device with a camera. It is as simple as holding your ID card up to the camera and clicking a button. It is still currently in development and continuously adding new features.”  He worked on this project part time in shopover the past 2 months.
